Problems (Archived 15 October 2007)

Hopefully we won't have a lot of these...

Today, December 13th, I found our first spam entry. Someone thought it would be funny to create the ThunderClan page and then only post an inappropriate word on it. It has been removed and the page has been reverted to a stub. Gorsecloud 20:33, 13 December 2006 (CST)

Thank you kindly for dealing with this. Kitsufox 03:30, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

This is another problem, although more humorous. I was noticing on the Twilight allegiences that there was a link to Midnight (the badger's) "page." I clicked on the link and found myself on the book's page. We need to differentiate betweent the two, just like we did between the modern and Great LionClan & TigerClan. Gorsecloud 22:48, 13 December 2006 (CST)

I think the book gets... Dibs on the name ;) So we'll make the Badger's link into Midnight (Character). **goes to do so** Kitsufox 05:16, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Problem #3. On October 14, 2007, one unregistered user decided to let the world know he likes pie on the Brackenfur page, but then thought better of it, and erased it on a second edit. Thought you ought to know. Eu 22:55, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Advertising Discussion (Archived 22 October 2007)

Do you want me to make an animated version of that? Oglog 20:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Why do you ask for permission for everything that you don't need it for, but don't consider consulting other people about big things that matter? Sure you can make another link banner for the Wiki! More choice for those wanting to link us! Kitsufox 20:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Because I'm just kinda weird :) anyway I've uploaded the animated version. What do you think (It's kinda reversed, I'll sort that sometime) 21:06, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
I might make some coloured versions, what do you all think? (e.g. red, green etc.) Oglog 21:07, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

PROPOSAL: Operations Overhaul

After a day of consideration (following Eu's mention of clutter and a few weeks of it floating around in the back of my mind, and the recent install of the Forums) I'd like to make a proposal for how to address the clutter here and cut it down.

A new Forum, titled Operations would be created. Topics would not be creatable in it, instead it would contain a number of subforums.
  1. Articles for Deletion Subforum. Though I also think it's about time to formalize the deletion process, as right now it's just "Kitsu notices something she thinks needs it".
  2. Feature Article Nominations Subforum.
  3. Discussion Area Subforum. For those items not yet ready for voting.
  4. Voting Booth Subforum. For those items and ideals that are ready for voting.

I feel that this will provide solutions and increased order for the Clutter that used to be able to be contained in this page in a manner much more flexible and organized than just creating a number of subpages.

As this is major, discussion will start now, and go either until a week has elapsed or the discussion has been quiet for a full 24 hours. Final vote will be called at that time. Kitsufox(Fox's Den) 00:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

AMENDMENT: I'd like to include a second major forum addition, for "Project Operations". These will include subforums for each project to use for voting on their Silver Articles. I figure If I'm putting together a mass of new stuff for new forums, I may as well include this improvement to help keep project pages cleaned up. Kitsufox(Fox's Den) 19:01, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
?? EARLY VOTE ??: As there seems to be little call for discussion on this matter, I'm going to move that the vote be opened early for adopting this plan. I think... late evening (Central Standard Time) on the 13th if no-one voices a counter-movement to hold the discussion phase open until the 17th as per the original statements. Kitsufox(Fox's Den) 15:40, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Do you feel that we should adopt the proposal to clean up the Main Page that involves moving most of the discussion and voting items to the forums? Vote-yay Kitsufox(Fox's Den) 04:06, 14 November 2007 (UTC) Vote-yay Hobbes15(Tiger Headquarters) 06:41, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

FINAL CALL FOR VOTES (Baring a request to hold this open), as there have been no votes in 4 days, I'm going to put a 24 hour warning into effect. There is no reason that I should be dragging my feet and putting off making the new Forum Areas if no one else wants to speak on the issue. Should anyone feel this action is inappropriate, only 1 voice needs speak to hold the vote open untill the 21st. Otherwise the vote will close on the 19th.  Kitsufox  Fox's Den 14:18, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

With 2 votes in favor, and none opposed, plus the knowlege that this is a good idea for the wiki's organization and smooth running, this stuff is going into effect.  Kitsufox  Fox's Den 13:48, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Policy:Unreleased Books

This policy originally developed in response to the requirement that pages be protected from trolling vandals who felt that phrases like "I hope this book is as good as the one before it" were meaningful inclusions to the page. I don't know if anyone has anything they think should be changed/added/subtracted, but that's what this process is for. Kitsufox(Fox's Den) 14:22, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Do you agree to adopting Policy:Unreleased Books as it currently stands? Vote-yay However it's one thing for people to rant on about how good they hope a book will be and another for speculation on a book's plot. Aurorastar 20:46, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Speculation on a books plot is inappropriate for an encyclopedia, though. It would be one thing for a person to write an essay of what they think might happen, or to post thoughts and feelings on their userpage, but "I hope it's as good as dawn" isn't something that belongs in a pending volumes' article.  Kitsufox  Fox's Den 21:27, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

With 4 votes of yay, and no opposing votes, the Unreleased books policy becomes official.  Kitsufox  Fox's Den 14:21, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
